Founded in 1995, Healthx is focused on meeting the unique communication needs of the healthcare industry. They provide web-based software solutions that enable payers and employers to deliver benefits to patients faster, more effectively, and at a lower cost. With more than 23 million total members, they provide the industry's leading self-service communication and data integration platform. Although they had achieved impressive levels of success, Healthx recognized that they'd need a renewed focus on the end users' experience in order to take their product to the next level.
Given the scale and complexity of the Healthx application, the team decided the best way to introduce new UX/UI elements would be to select a handful of key interactions and areas that could be modified without having to overhaul the entire system. Working with these selected interactions, the team created current and future state process flows, a set of exploratory wireframes, and the final HTML and CSS needed by the development team to implement the changes.
The new interface work was received with enthusiasm by everyone involved, and this short-term project has become the catalyst for what will eventually be an update to the Healthx product writ-large. Key factors in the project's success were KA+A's abilities to get up to speed quickly on a complex software product, and integrate seamlessly with a client-side engineering team.
