Lately we’ve been talking a lot about the elements of a successful design project. We thought it would be interesting, and helpful to other readers, to hear a bit more about other folk’s successes and how they were achieved. Tell us about the client, the challenge, and the solution.
Any type of design project is fair game, including:
- Corporate identity
- User interfaces
- Concept prototypes
- Environments
- Service experiences
- Web sites
- Etc.
The following are a few questions to get your juices flowing:
- What was your most successful design project
- Tell us what criteria you used to evaluate it’s success
- Tell us about the problem that was solved
- Tell us a bit about the process you (or your firm) went through
- Include a link to a case study or blog post if you have one available
If you have something to share, just post your responses in the comments field below.

I think the launching of bluerivernursery.com was by far my most successful and yet challenging project in the last 12 months. It all actually started in September of 2008 but carried well over into February of 2009 for technical reasons.
CHALLENGE
Take a templated, boring and hardly functional ecommerce website and turn it back into a functional shopping cart while at the same time making it more appealing to visitors.
SUCCESS
True success can’t be measured in dollars and cents at this point because it’s still very new. The client has made money, but it still needs to be marketed more heavily to give it more exposure
RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
Out of every single client I have ever dealt with, I will say that Gonink can now call this nursery a long term partner in our business as much as we are a partner in theirs. I mesh extremely well with the owner and get along great with their entire staff. Through serious technical challenges and certain time constraints we somehow find a way to make it all work for the betterment of everyone involved.
