You know, I was just thinking of this the other day.
Can you visualize sound? I realized, absolutely!

I mean, what is sound, really? It's emotion, whether it's technical or organic. We, as designers, make emotion visual.
It's even one of the first things we are taught!

And whether we are designers or not, we all have experiences that tell us what something should sound, taste, or feel like. Think of Ratatouille when they show what the taste of strawberries and cheese look and sound like. Love it.
