How do you price your products and services? Time and materials? Flat fees? Retainer based?
Remember last year when Radiohead flipped the record industry on it’s head by letting their fans decide how much their new record was worth? They made a bunch of money (some have estimated that they made more off In Rainbows than every other release combined). One thing is for sure, they’re fans attribute an extremely high level of value to their music.
Our friends over at Asthmatic Kitty (specifically, fellow Pecha Kucha warrior John Beeler) have developed another unique pricing approach. It’s called critic-based pricing.
PS – I wonder what would happen if design firms let clients set the price of an engagement?
